Our Organisation

By John Hemans (founder of Unchained Ministries) ….

I wanted to ensure that as our ministry grows, and as the number of people donating and partnering with us increases, that we have an organisational structure that reflects our desire to be transparent and accountable for everything with which the Lord blesses us.

Our ministry board is comprised of myself (John Hemans) serving as President, with my wife Kerry Hemans, Pastors Don and Minta Baker and Sam McCarthy serving as Directors.

John Hemans (Chairman)

God called me as an evangelist just a few weeks after I gave my life to Jesus Christ in 1996.

In 2003 I began to feel a burning desire to take the gospel to areas of our community that the church doesn’t always reach, and founded Church in the Park that year, in the process founding Unchained Ministries.

Kerry Hemans (Executive Director)

Before Kerry and I married in 2007, Kerry had a vision from the Lord in which she saw us labouring together in the harvest, and Kerry now ministers with me at Church in the Park and in prison ministry.

Pastor Minta Baker (Director)

Doctor Don Baker is a highly respected Pentecostal minister who has pastored in Australia since 1960. He and his wife Minta were instrumental in the great move of God known as the Charismatic Renewal in Australia beginning in the 1960′s.

Their first church was started in Greenacre in Sydney in 1960, in the garage of Don and Minta’s home.

In 1961 they built the first version of Calvary Chapel, which was re-built and expanded 4 times, with a pre-school and primary school added. The current Calvary Chapel in Georges Hall (a suburb of Sydney) opened in 1991.

Pastors Don and Minta served as senior pastors at Calvary Chapel from 1960 to 2004.

Pastor Don also served as the president of the Foursquare Church in Australia for 25 years, from 1979 to 2004.

Pastors Don and Minta have consistently ministered in the power of the Holy Spirit throughout their ministry. They have ministered in every state and territory of Australia, in New Zealand, in various areas of Asia and other areas of the world.

Kerry and I asked Minta Baker to provide mentoring and oversight as a Director to Unchained Ministries because of her maturity as a highly respected Christian leader, strong foundation in God’s Word, experience in the gifts of the Spirit, and wisdom when facing challenging experiences.

Don and Minta have been my pastors since I came to the Lord in 1996.

Robyn Jacob (Secretary)

Robyn has served in leadership positions in several Christian ministries and churches, as a worship musician and singer, teacher, intercessor and secretary.

Margaret Carroll (Treasurer)

Margraet is a business owner in south-western Sydney and has served as treasurer to several churches in our area, as well as serving as a worship leader, preacher and intercessor.
